Frank Scott II Shares Community-Focused Mission on 765BusinessJournal.com Radio Show

On February 2nd, Frank Scott II, Director of Operations at Innovation Connector, joined host Lathay R. Pagues in the WMUN studio as a guest on the 765BusinessJournal.com Radio Show. Airing every Monday from 9:00–9:30 a.m., the show spotlights individuals and organizations working to uplift the Muncie community through economic development, job growth, and meaningful local impact.

The conversation offered listeners an opportunity to learn more about Frank’s background, his journey to Innovation Connector, and the purpose-driven approach he brings to supporting entrepreneurs across the region.

A Purpose-Driven Path to Innovation Connector

Frank Scott II was appointed Director of Operations at Innovation Connector in September 2025, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in business ownership, manufacturing operations, and community mentorship. His connection to Innovation Connector, however, began long before his official role.

For years, Frank had met with Innovation Connector CEO and Executive Director Ted Baker to discuss his entrepreneurial journey. Those conversations helped shape his understanding of how businesses can be both successful and service-oriented. When an opening at Innovation Connector became available, Frank saw it as the natural next step—one that aligned with his desire to serve others while supporting entrepreneurs at every stage.

Frank credits his experience as an entrepreneur, along with his passion for community impact, as key factors that led him to the role. Today, he helps carry forward Innovation Connector’s mission of supporting dreamers, visionaries, and business owners as they pursue and grow their ideas.

Entrepreneurship Rooted in Love and Opportunity

Frank’s entrepreneurial journey began early. While still in high school, he launched his own clothing line, gaining firsthand experience in turning ideas into action. Later, when he became a father, he founded the nonprofit Fortunate 500, created to connect fathers and provide mutual support. Recognizing that not everyone shares the same experiences or guidance when it comes to fatherhood, Frank saw the importance of building a community rooted in understanding and shared growth.

He also co-founded K & B Car Wash-Detail with his cousin, eventually taking over the business himself. The name K & B stands for “Knowing and Believing”—a reflection of Frank’s belief that people can’t believe what they don’t know, and they don’t act on what they don’t believe. More than a detailing service, the business became a platform for second chances. Through partnerships with local dealerships, Frank was able to provide job opportunities for individuals who had faced challenges such as addiction or involvement in the criminal justice system.

For Frank, the work was never just about cleaning cars—it was about character, growth, and creating pathways forward. That same mindset continues to shape his work at Innovation Connector.

Inspiration, Belief, and the Entrepreneurial Journey

During the interview, Frank shared that his grandfather, an entrepreneur who owned multiple businesses, and his father, who taught him about operations and leadership, were major influences in his life. Those lessons continue to guide how he approaches both business and mentorship.

Frank also spoke about the unique challenges entrepreneurs face, particularly the challenge of believing in themselves. He encourages business owners to start slow, stay consistent, and appreciate the small moments along the journey. In his view, progress doesn’t have to be rushed to be meaningful.

The Year Ahead

As Innovation Connector looks toward 2026, Frank shared excitement about new initiatives on the horizon, including continued focus on the Business Health Check. This initiative helps entrepreneurs assess where they are in their business journey—especially those who feel stuck in day-to-day operations and are unsure of their next steps.

Through his role, Frank aims to help entrepreneurs gain clarity, confidence, and direction—reinforcing Innovation Connector’s commitment to connecting people with the right resources, guidance, and community support.
