TAKE YOUR IDEA FROM THE MINORS

TO THE MAJORS

In the Big Idea Pitch, local entrepreneurs and innovators get three minutes to pitch their business concepts, product or invention to a panel of judges from the business and investment community. We know there are very creative and interesting concepts from people in our region – this competition will showcase those ideas and offer what it takes to advance them.

The BIG Idea Pitch Competition is your chance to prove the potential of your business idea, meet people who can help you succeed…maybe even win a cash prize! Competitors will have three minutes max to “hit it out of the park” before our panel of judges.

Congratulations to this year’s Winners!

1st Place  |  Sydney Conn & Leena Vyas – The Breeze Charger

Sydney & Leena, high school juniors, came up with the idea of the Breeze Charger as part of a class science fair project.  Now after many iterations and two patent pending filings, this device generates enough power via slow moving vehicles (rickshaws, etc.)  to re-charge cell phones.  Charging cell phones is a common problem in under-developed countries where cell phones are prominent and electricity is not dependable.  This idea coupled with a perfected and energetic pitch presentation won these two young ladies first place in the 2017 BIG Idea Pitch Competition and $5,000 cash and many business services.

2nd Place  |  Rhett Barker  –  Flipside Mobile Car Wash LLC

This idea, along with Rhett’s passionate pitch, was awarded second place and $2,500 and business services.  Flipside Mobile Car Wash is a waterless mobile car wash that not only saves 80 gallons of water per wash but also provides customers with a hands-on high end car wash at their places of work, the golf course or maybe in even during valet parking at a hotel or restaurant.  Rhett is a senior at Ball State University.

3rd Place  |  Paul Fabrick  –  PRCR Industries LLC, Gutter Clutter Cleaner

This is one of those ideas that after you hear about it you way, “I should have come up with that idea!”  Paul’s invention is a simple device that fits onto the end of a standard extension pole on one end and on the other end is a home gutter shaped piece that allows one to push or pull debris in gutters.  This invention alleviates the risks of leaning on ladders or extending to far while standing on a roof to clean your home’s gutters.

4th Place  |  Connor Bielat  –  SPP Camp

In a family with one of the siblings having Asperger’s Syndrome, Connor is well aware of the long term challenges that are ahead of his sibling.  With an 85% unemployment rate, adults with Asperger’s need to be trained and taught simple skills that will help them become productive members of society.  SPP Camp is a summer camp that will provide these young adults with interactive training such as job interview training, living on their own, and other basic life skills.

5th Place  |  Wesley Crouch  –  TüDr Mobile App

Wesley, along with his brother, has created a mobile app that combines the ideas of Linked In, Facebook and Uber to provide on-demand tutoring for college students.  This app will benefit both the tutor by providing much needed revenue for college expenses while providing focused tutoring for the college student in need.

6th Place  |  Amanda & Kyle Reninger  –  Sea Salt & Cinnamon

Initially developed because of health related issues, Amanda and Kyle have created and are delivering true holistic baked goods and food items to the central Indiana region.  As a team, their products are created fresh daily and sold throughout coffee shops and restaurants.
