Nevertheless – A Business Sisterhood

What's Happening

at the Innovation Connector

First Gathering – Session 1

Nevertheless was nothing short of an amazing business and connection gaining experience for the women who participated in the first program at Innovation Connector. The first session started on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 and ended on April 12, 2022.

While at Nevertheless, the women were not only able to share their goals and successes but their stresses and frustrations with women who may have the same experiences. It was an opportunity to listen to other professionals share about their business and branding. There was education to help us learn and grow such as understanding the Enneagram and how it can help evolve your team and much more. The sisterhood met at the Innovation Connector every other week for over an hour.   The group also had meetings at Rosebud Coffee House and Re/Max in Yorktown.

The first Nevertheless recently ended and there is no doubt the next group of women will benefit from participating in this experience.  Since the first session ended, the group has already met again to have a cooking demonstration and will continue to meet monthly for lunch to continue to maintain and grow those relationships.  We are looking forward to the future of Nevertheless, A Business Sisterhood, at Innovation Connector.

What is NEVERTHELESS?

We’re the advisory board, the angels on your shoulder, and the ones who’ve walked a mile in your shoes. We’re your business sisterhood. Leading a company is often a lonely job: there’s only one of you. While friends and family members are often supportive, they simply haven’t been there and don’t understand the pressure you’re under, the decisions you face, and the millions of thoughts running through your head. NEVERTHELESS members do.
We’re your executive teammates. We help you advocate for yourself, your business, and your wellbeing. We help you dream. We help you solve problems – even the petty ones.
We’re a group of women from all walks of life who own businesses. We know what
it’s like to be a woman in business and the boss. We know what it’s like to make the
tough decisions. We know what it’s like to juggle family demands, our own mental
health, and carry the weight of our employees and customers on our shoulders.
And now…we’re uniting.

For six months, a group of ten women entrepreneurs come together to workshop our problems, celebrate successes, and push ourselves to new heights. It’s a commitment, with a lifetime of benefits.

What to Expect at Nevertheless

Each session is held during the workday because we don’t want to take away from those precious off-the-clock hours and this is a business benefit. We meet every other week at the same time on the same day (adjustments made for holidays) for 90 minutes.
The meetings start with a quick update on each member’s goals – did you accomplish what you committed to or not? How do you feel about it? What will you do differently next time? We’ll hear from guest speakers or opt for some relevant educational work. Then, we dive into peer mentoring where one member gets to unload about what’s going on and the rest of the group leverages their talents, connections, and brainpower to assist. We finish the meeting with each member committing to what her personal goal will be to accomplish between now and the next meeting. Then you can get back to your day!

It’s up to us to all challenge our own boundaries, our own comfort zones, and get out and see what else is out there in the world and what else is possible, and give ourselves a shot to go a little bit deeper, a little bit further.

Before You Apply to Join

We do have some requirements to ensure each member is
getting the best experience.
  • Share your experiences and your ideas.

  • Attend Each Meeting Every 2 Weeks, Starting October 12.

  • Be honest and transparent.

  • Brainstorm on other’s businesses.

  • Set goals. Make progress towards your goals.

*Don’t worry: your secrets, brilliant ideas, and “I fell flat on my face!” moments are
safe with us. Everyone in the group signs non-disclosure agreements so that we all
feel safe to be open, honest, and as vulnerable as we need to be to grow.

Our fear of the unknown and our fear of making mistakes trick us into focusing on what we don‘t know or can’t do. When we give ourselves the freedom to be uncertain and less than perfect, then we can start thinking, ‘What do I know? What can I do?’ That’s when the adventure starts — learning, thriving, conquering, failing, recouping, and having a ton of fun.

— Kristin Smith, COO, Dolly, Inc.

When & Where

Session 1 of Nevertheless is completed.
Session 2 is coming soon, stay posted for details!

People don’t take opportunities because the timing is bad, the financial side unsecure. Too many people are overanalyzing. Sometimes you just have to go for it.
